Ian is the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) Regional Director for the East Midlands.
Ian’s main responsibilities are to lead on the promotion and delivery of International Trade services within the East Midlands, work closely with Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the UK’s overseas network spanning some 110 countries, liaise with Ministers, and lead a programme of events and an expert team of International Trade Advisers.
Ian has over 20 years’ experience of dealing with publicly funded business support and has worked in a number of organisations in roles that have provided advice and expertise to all sizes of business. Before joining UKTI Ian worked within the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) where he was an Assistant Director for Business Engagement for BIS Local in the East Midlands & South East Midlands.
Ian has a degree in Economics, a post-graduate qualification in Regional Planning and has attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Entrepreneurship Development programme. Ian is currently is a member of the MSD UK Leadership Group, a Global Entrepreneurship Monitor National Survey Expert and is a Board member of the OPUN Architecture and Design Centre charity for the East Midlands.
