Eve Taylor - 79 Years Young!

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Export, Healthcare, Japan

eve_taylorEnergetic 79 year old Eve Taylor OBE,  world-renowned for her expertise in the science and practice of aromatherapy, held a special lecture at British Embassy in Tokyo on September 21 2010.

Eve Taylor provides original aroma oils and runs schools and salons.  She entered the Japanese market in 2008 under a contract with Takara Belmont as their exclusive Japanese distributor.  UKTI has been supporting Eve Taylor and Takara Belmont since then.  Eve Taylor has been loved by Japanese aroma therapists because of her naturally derived oils and curative approach.  In general, aromatherapy has been popular in Japan among young business women to release their work related stress.  Aromatherapy salons as well as products can be found at most department stores and shopping centres.

In the seminar, organised by Takara Belmont, Eve Taylor raised three main points to the audience of mainly beauticians.  First, it is crucial to understand the customer's real problem.  This may not be only a skin problem but also a psychological one.  Without identifying this, treatment may end up being superficial and ineffective.  Secondly, it is vital to take account of the rapidly changing society that we are living in.  People are struggling to catch up this drastic change and as a result their body may react in different ways, such as skin and internal organ problems.  Aromatherapy can help to ease their stress caused by such change.  Finally, she advised beauticians to take care of themselves.

When asked if there is anything unique in Japanese market,  Eve said that Japanese society has been westernised at a radical speed which has generated certain stress and affected especially young people's health.  Through her aromatherapy, she hopes to improve their body and restore balance with the change.  She is also planning to create a product original to each country and for Japan, she is trying to extract essence from "yuzu" (citrus junos).
