Japan first for luxury brand Ettinger

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Export, Fashion & Accessories, Japan

ettingerEttinger, one of the most prestigious UK brands for men’s accessories, with a Royal Warrant to HRH The Prince of Wales, opened its first directly managed shop in Ginza, Tokyo on 1 October 2010.  This is a particularly important moment for the company, as it is their first directly managed shop not just in Japan, but globally.  Ginza is a very prestigious location, known as one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the world.

Ettinger first entered the Japanese market in 1999 under a contract with Kandy, a Japanese importer and seller.  Since then, they have been selling their products at department stores and select shops. UKTI Japan has been supporting their business in the Japanese market in various ways.

Mr and Mrs  Robert Ettinger, the President of Ettinger, flew to Tokyo for the store opening.  Mr Ettinger was very pleased with the new store, especially its interior with real brick walls.  David Warren, British Ambassador to Japan, also attended the opening reception.

When asked about impressions of Japan, Mr Ettinger said that he was happy to see the number of consumers in department stores and boutiques, despite the current economic situation.
