Export Week - make time to explore your growth potential

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Export Week

Since the first Export Week was launched almost year ago, it has been great to see so many of the region’s companies, large and small, taking up the international trade challenge.

From children’s swimwear and tricycles to shellfish and beer. From medical hoists and dental equipment to pet supplies and cleaning products, the array of South West businesses now trading overseas is tremendously diverse.

At UKTI we know that striking out into new and unfamiliar territory can be daunting, but many more South West companies could and should be taking advantage of the opportunities international markets offer and the wide range support UKTI provides.

Building on previous experience, our next Export Week will take place from 7 to 11 April, offering a mix of seminars, masterclasses, one-to-one meetings, workshops and networking events to inform and hopefully inspire businesses to take up the export challenge. Events will take place right across the region, from Gloucestershire to Cornwall, offering something for both the novice and experienced exporter, and everyone in between.

The very essence of Export Week is to encourage the region’s businesses to consider their overseas potential and show how UKTI can help reach potential customers around the world. We have put together a programme of events and activities that will hopefully raise interest in exporting to some different markets including China, Indonesia and emerging Europe, all of whom are crying out for high quality British products and services. We will also be able running events focusing on mid-sized businesses and women in business.

I strongly believe that most companies can and should export – from single-owner operations to large corporations. If you are successful in the UK, there is no reason why you can’t sell abroad, if you do your research and plan properly.

UKTI has a wealth of support on offer to ease the process and, most importantly, an experienced team of local export advisers to help. However, the first step must come from business so I encourage you to take that step today. Please join us at one of our regional Export Week events during 7-11 April so you can access this essential knowledge and expertise.
