Grow your business - Export Week shows the way

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Export Week

Encouraging new investment and exports is crucial to the success of the Government’s Plan for Growth, which has set ambitious targets to more than double the value of exports to £1trillion by 2020.

Our aim is to get more than 100,000 more UK companies exporting by 2020.

Last year, thousands of businesses took part in hundreds of events across the country organised during two special Export Week initiatives, as part of the National Export Challenge, to help them explore the many opportunities available overseas.

This year, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) will once again join forces with business support networks and organisations to continue those efforts with another Export Week, 7-11 April.

In the North East many companies have already found that Exporting is GREAT and are reaping the rewards of joining the global race, with more than £12.346 billion worth of goods and services exported from the region in the last 12 months.

Our Exporting is GREAT campaign aims to inspire SMEs with an appetite for growth to take up the challenge, while mid-sized businesses are being offered tailored trade advice and an intensive programme of support to help them break into new markets.

Put simply, we want to help more businesses to sell overseas and for existing exporters to take on the challenge of exporting to more markets.

During Export Week we will be working with our many partners, including North East LEP, Tees Valley Unlimited, North East Chamber of Commerce, NEPIC, RTC North, Institute of Directors, Federation of Small Businesses, UK Export Finance, Manufacturing Advisory Service and Technology Strategy Board to show them the way.

And we would encourage as many of the region’s businesses as possible to join us to find out more about what opportunities are available and the support that is on offer to help them succeed.
