UK-Japan collaboration celebrates traditional and modern British creativity

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Japan

A special collaboration between UK-headquartered Eley Kishimoto, as Creative Directors, and long-established brand Laura Ashley, has been launched at the British Embassy in Tokyo.  The UKTI Japan team supported the event as part of their work making the facilities of the British Embassy available for hire.  This event utilised one of our British-style houses on the Embassy compound, an environment quite unique in Japan, to excellent effect.

The Laura Ashley London collection surprised the nearly 300 press visitors and buyers.  Designers Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto have given a modern twist to some of the traditional prints in the Laura Ashley company archive.  The collection has been specially designed for the Japanese market, one of the most fashion-conscious and demanding in the world.  Reaching out to a younger audience, Laura Ashley Japan has created a new range of affordable, stylish, yet very wearable clothes.

Laura Ashley have been in Japan for 24 years.  The  Laura Ashley London collection will be available in their 59 Japan stores from September.  We're saving already...
