Thousands of reasons to register for opportunities

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Canada, Oil and Gas

Allteko  is a UK company supplying plant and equipment goods and materials for the oil and gas industry. Based in Worcester, they are a great example of British company operating in a technical field.

I met their Managing Director, David Fielding, in Birmingham during UKTI Explore Export Week. These events are a productive fora to meet with local UKTI International Trade Advisers and Commercial Officers based overseas.

David and I got talking about the free alerts provided by UKTI's Business Opportunities service. Turns out that the company won their first contract in Canada -  worth just over £39,000 - by responding to a live business opportunity via our website. The contract provides them with a first step into the Canadian market and gave them the initial interest to further research the Allteko specific market - the Oil sands and exploration in Alberta. Allteko found that the customer they received their Purchase Order from posts all their material requirements on a tender site, on which Allteko’s business development team found a contract for Structural Steel Supplier Selection. Allteko are now approved as a supplier of Structural Steel products to Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan through PWGSC until 2016; another great achievement and development on Alltekos route and breakthrough into Canada.

Allteko main product categories are heat exchangers, pressure vessels, air coolers and tubes. Up until now, their main markets were Russia, Kazakhstan and Asia, but winning this contract in Canada has opened up new possibilities. Allteko is liaising with our Commercial Officers in Canada to build up on their success.

David is keen to explore all avenues and by talking to him, his enthusiasm for their products shone through. I don’t think I can say the same, given my extremely limited knowledge of heat exchangers, but then again, that’s why we have Allteko in business after all.

The contract has certainly been an eye-opener for them. David says
"It’s been a great and reassuring experience completing this contract. The team have spent a lot of time in post-order market and customer research into Canada; which may not have been done without the initial order; and what certainly would have been harder without the help from Tracey of UKTI."

This is a perfect example of how responding to a business opportunity can bring you profitable results.

As David and his team know very well, it only takes a click to get outcomes like these. By registering for our free alerts, you can have the same success Allteko has. Surely this is worth a few minutes of your time. For Allteko, a few minutes brought £39,000. What will it bring you?
