How we raised our profile in the South Korean Market

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Education, South Korea

emma-with-kidsI am Principal at the British International Kindergarten’s Seocho Campus. With two campuses in Seoul, the British International Kindergartens offer a unique and prestigious educational experience to international families and the internationally minded.  Britain and the British style of education have long been looked to as role models in the educational world, and we are proud to follow in that tradition. Traditionally, many families have sent their children to the UK in order to experience a truly British educational experience - it’s with great pride that I can now say that children as young as two can now experience such an education here with us  in Seoul .

Children’s lives are becoming  increasingly global. As evidenced with Seoul’s involvement in the G20 summit,  South Korea is determined to take a leading role in this globalization. It’s therefore imperative that, in order to succeed and indeed thrive in the future, children receive a high quality international education.

British International Kindergartens recently took the opportunity to hold an event at the British Embassy to introduce their two new principals; myself  and Angela Russell, headteacher at our Hannam Campus.  The event was organized through liaison with UK Trade & Investment, the Embassy and the British International Kindergartens and was hugely successful. A group of 60-70 attendees heard us speak about providing learning environments in which young children can feel safe and thrive as learners in today’s international world, a cause which we passionately believe in.

Continued  interest from the event can be seen in the number of attendees at recent Open Houses and increased awareness in the expatriate community. The event was aimed at raising the profile of British International Kindergartens in Seoul and was not directly a recruitment event. However, much to our delight, at least one mother has enrolled her child as a direct result of attending the Embassy function. It was a delight and pleasure to work with UKTI and the British Embassy, and we look forward to strengthening this relationship further as we continue to grow in the future.
